Mooresville resident Quanda Smith, a longtime caterer and proud owner of the Southern Part of Heaven (SPOH) food truck, is not just serving meals—she’s keeping her parents’ legacy alive through every dish she prepares. After catering for 24 years, Quanda’s dream of owning a food truck became a reality, but it’s the heartfelt inspiration behind her journey that truly sets her apart.
Quanda began catering after the passing of her mother, a woman who always brought the family together through food. “My mom was the heart of our gatherings, always cooking and making sure everyone was together. After she passed away, I started cooking in her memory, hoping to continue her tradition,” Quanda shared. A few years later, when her father passed away, her mission deepened. “I wanted the food truck to honor them both, so they’re part of my logo. Everywhere I go, they’re with me.”
The Southern Part of Heaven truck isn’t just about great food. Quanda’s culinary journey is rooted in love, faith, and community. She travels from city to city, sharing meals and connection. “I eat, love, and pray with everyone I meet. Feeding people isn’t just a business—it’s a ministry. I feed the hungry, help those in need, and participate in events for Caldwell Chapel AME Zion Church in Mooresville, which is like family to me.”
Quanda’s food truck serves as a beacon of hope, love, and remembrance, and it’s clear that through her passion for food, she’s doing much more than nourishing bodies—she’s nurturing hearts and preserving her family’s legacy one meal at a time.
