Calling all thrill-seekers and chili aficionados! A neighboring town on Lake Norman is gearing up for a day of icy thrills and delicious delights at the 2025 Chilly Plunge & Chili Cook-Off. This FREE family-friendly event promises to be a blast for all ages, whether you’re brave enough to take the plunge into the chilly waters of Lake Norman or prefer to stay warm while enjoying homemade chili and gooey s’mores.
Something for Everyone
The Chilly Plunge & Chili Cook-Off welcomes everyone to join the fun. Participate individually or gather your friends and family to form a team – there’s no minimum pledge required! For the little ones, the Cubbie’s Club Youth Plunge offers free crafts, games, and a mini-plunge for ages 12 and under.
Warm Up After the Chills
After braving the frigid waters, participants can unwind and warm up in the inviting sauna or steam rooms at the Lake Norman YMCA.
Award-Winning Chili
For those with culinary ambitions, the event also features a Chili Cook-Off. Show off your secret recipe and compete for bragging rights in two categories: “People’s Choice for Best Chili” and “Judge’s Favorite Chili.” The competition also extends to the participants themselves – awards for “Best Individual Costume” and “Best Team Theme” will be announced, so get creative!
Supporting the Community
More than just a fun day out, all proceeds from the Chilly Plunge & Chili Cook-Off go towards the YMCA Annual Campaign. This program helps create opportunities for everyone in the community to reach their full potential.
