MOORESVILLE, NC – As the Town of Mooresville prepares to celebrate its birthday with the upcoming Mooresville Day Festival, Mayor Chris Carney and the town’s honorary Dog Mayor, Reya, will visit local schools to engage with students, highlight Mooresville’s history, and spread excitement for the festivities.

In the week leading up to the festival, Mayor Carney will visit classrooms in Mooresville providing students with the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the Town and the importance of civic engagement. Through discussions, students will gain insight into how their voices and actions contribute to the town’s future. To make the experience even more memorable, the Mayor will invite students to Mooresville’s official birthday party and host a mini celebration in each classroom, complete with cupcakes.

Reya takes the reins at Town Hall.

Joining him on these visits will be Reya, Mooresville’s honorary Dog Mayor. Reya was elected as Mooresville’s Dog Mayor on May 26, 2024, and is serving a one-year term. As Dog Mayor, Reya is a proud advocate for dog adoption and has made it her mission to raise as much money as possible for Sheldon’s K9s during her term.
