The Mooresville Diaper Project has launched its 2026 Diaper Drive, which runs from April 15 through April 30. The organization is now in its 11th year of collecting diapers for families and local nonprofit organizations.
According to organizers, the cost of diapers has increased due to inflation. Families are currently spending between $80 and $150 per month on diapers, compared to $70 to $100 just a few years ago.
The goal for this year’s drive is to collect 20,000 diapers. Reaching that goal would bring the organization’s total to more than 200,000 diapers collected over the past 11 years.
Donations from the drive are distributed to several local organizations, including the Community Pregnancy Center of Lake Norman, The Christian Mission, Feed NC, and Hope of Mooresville. A new partner this year, Foster Love Adopt Repeat, will also receive diapers to support foster families.
Organizers said that many of the nonprofits they serve operate with tight budgets and often include diapers as a necessary expense. Some organizations have reported that diaper donations from the drive have allowed them to reduce that portion of their budget.
The most needed donation sizes are 3, 4, 5, and 6, as smaller sizes are more commonly donated.
Community members can donate by purchasing from the organization’s Amazon wish list, sending contributions through Venmo, or dropping off diapers at designated locations. Drop-off sites include Burn Boot Camp in Mooresville, Christ Community Church, Peninsula Baptist Church, and Rocky Mount Church Preschool.
The organization plans to distribute all collected diapers to partner organizations within two weeks after the drive ends, with distribution expected to be completed by May 15.
Organizers also noted that while awareness and support may be affected by current economic conditions, the need for diapers in the community has increased.
