Mooresville Motorsports Celebration Set for October 8, 2024

Mooresville, NC – The highly anticipated 2024 Mooresville Motorsports Celebration will take place on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in downtown Mooresville. This annual event, hosted by the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame in partnership with Visit Mooresville and the Town of Mooresville, is a cherished tradition that honors the rich motorsports heritage of the area.

The celebration will feature a variety of activities for all ages, including a classic car show, live entertainment, and local food trucks, creating a festival-like atmosphere on Main Street. The highlight of the evening will be the prestigious N.C. Auto Racing Hall of Fame “Walk of Fame” Induction Ceremony, where two legendary figures in motorsports will be honored: Shirley Muldowney and Elliott Forbes-Robinson.

Honoring Legends: The 2024 Inductees

Shirley Muldowney, known as “Cha Cha,” is a pioneering figure in drag racing. Muldowney’s storied career began in 1958, and she went on to win three NHRA Top Fuel Dragster world championships. Her journey was marked by overcoming significant challenges as a woman in a male-dominated sport, ultimately earning her a place in several motorsports halls of fame.

Elliott Forbes-Robinson, or “EFR,” is renowned for his achievements across multiple racing series, including the American Le Mans Series, NASCAR, and the Trans-Am Series. His career, which spanned from 1974 to 2005, includes numerous victories and contributions to the development of racing.

These inductees will be commemorated with plaques on the Mooresville Walk of Fame, which continues to be a destination for racing fans from around the world.
