MOORESVILLE, NC – On Monday, January 20, 2025, the community gathered for the “Mission Possible: Dream Bigger” event to honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Charles Mack Citizen Center. The program brought together attendees to reflect on Dr. King’s vision of equality, justice, and unity.

The event began with a peace walk through Downtown Mooresville and was proceeded by a program and breakfast with local speakers and performers.

Master of Ceremonies, Mario King led the program, which featured remarks from Pastor Lawrence Williams, Town of Mooresville Mayor Chris Carney, and Mooresville High School Principal Samone Graham. Each stressed the importance of unity and action in the pursuit of Dr. King’s vision. Three youth speakers from the Mooresville Graded School District shared messages on the significance of Dr. King’s legacy for the next generation.

Performances included a dance by U.N.I.Q.U.E. Girls Club as well as songs by Tynsley Williams and Trevina Johnson. The event featured a keynote address by Pastor Sheldon McIver, who emphasized the importance of unity and community action despite challenges. “We’ve got to come together, in spite of how difficult it might be, because unity is how we make the mission possible,” McIver shared during his remarks.

The program not only celebrated Dr. King’s legacy but also served as a call to action for individuals to actively contribute to a more just, diverse, and inclusive society.
