Local Preschool Soars to New Heights with Helicopter Visit

Mooresville, NC – Central Preschool in Mooresville, had a sky-high surprise for their students recently! As part of their special “Community Helpers” program, the school hosted a visit from Atrium Health’s MedCenter Air, bringing a real-life helicopter right to their playground!

Kevin Kleinpeter, a pilot for MedCenter Air and a resident of Mooresville himself, went above and beyond to make this special day happen. He meticulously planned the landing, coordinating with the Mooresville Fire Department for ground support and Mitchell Community College to secure a safe zone.

The excitement was electric as the helicopter touched down. Younger students watched safely from inside while older students marveled at the sight from a designated viewing area. The MedCenter Air team took the time to explain their crucial role in serving the community and answer the children’s many questions.

The highlight for many? The chance for each child to climb aboard the helicopter for a close-up look! Many students and teachers had never seen a helicopter this close before, making it a truly unforgettable learning experience. “My favorite part was watching the helicopter land!” exclaimed one student, echoing the sentiment of many.

This visit is a testament to Central Preschool’s commitment to providing a well-rounded, interactive learning environment for its students. “We think playing is very important,” says the school, and this special day incorporated both play and learning in a thrilling way.

Central Preschool, a half-day, play-based Christian preschool, has been a staple in the Mooresville community for over 35 years.
