Mooresville, NC – The Lake Norman Special Olympics hosted the Lake Norman Pirate’s Invitational at Bellingham Park today, marking the start of the new season. The community turned out in full force to cheer on the Lake Norman Pirates and other participating teams as they took to the field for their first games of the year.
Lake Norman Special Olympics, a local organization serving the Mooresville area, provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The Pirate’s Invitational is one of many events the organization hosts throughout the year.
The event showcased the dedication, sportsmanship, and joy of the athletes, inspiring everyone in attendance.
Nearly 300 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the Lake Norman area train and compete year-round in Special Olympics programs. The local program always needs dedicated volunteers.
