NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has finalized the sale of his Mooresville, North Carolina estate for $12.2 million — a transaction that now holds the record for the highest residential sale ever documented in the greater Charlotte region.
The expansive estate, situated approximately 30 miles north of Charlotte in a community well known for its concentration of professional stock car drivers, spans around 140 acres. The buyer, who paid in cash, is based in South Florida, according to Josh Tucker of Corcoran HM Properties, who handled the listing.
Stenhouse originally bought the property in 2013 for $3.8 million. The estate was first listed in 2022 for just under $16 million and was later removed from the market after its final listing price of $12.99 million. The sale came after a compelling offer was made privately, prompting Stenhouse to proceed without re-listing it.
Constructed in the early 2000s, the main residence measures over 9,100 square feet and includes five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms, and two half-baths. Interior highlights include a high-end kitchen with quartz countertops and a walk-in pantry, a private library, a home theater, and broad terraces with scenic views. Outside, the grounds feature a vanishing-edge swimming pool, a pool house, a putting green, and a fully outfitted outdoor kitchen complete with a fireplace.
Despite the home’s deep motorsports roots, the new owner is not affiliated with NASCAR. Stenhouse, who captured the 2023 Daytona 500 title and is a two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion, plans to remain in the area. He and his wife, Madyson, still own a 160-acre neighboring parcel they purchased in 2018 and may develop a new home on that land.

Prior to Stenhouse’s ownership, the estate—known as Slide Job Ranch—belonged to NASCAR icons Ernie Irvan and Joe Nemechek. In addition to its racing heritage, the property is outfitted with luxury equestrian amenities, including a 5,500-square-foot European-style barn with 18 custom stalls, a covered riding arena, and a climate-controlled tack room.
The previous highest residential sale in the Charlotte area was $11.5 million for a Lake Norman waterfront home in July 2024. Tucker noted that the combination of substantial acreage, high-end features, and its location between Charlotte and Lake Norman contributed to the property’s premium valuation, though the initial $16 million listing may have been ambitious.
The sale adds to the growing momentum of the region’s luxury real estate market.
