What Families Should Know For The Return Of Girl Scouts Love State Parks

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P) is partnering with nine state parks across central and western North Carolina on September 13 and 14 for Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend, a national event that encourages families to create a better planet for all.

Every year on the second weekend of September, families head out to explore their local state parks and participate in a variety of outdoor activities. Girls lead the way on self-guided tours, family hikes, watersports, stargazing and more, all while fostering a clean environment for everyone to enjoy.

“At Girl Scouts, we want to give all girls the opportunity to get outside and experience something new,” said Sawyer Thomas, Director of Outdoor Experience at GSCP2P. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with so many local state parks this year that are offering unique outdoor experiences to families in our footprint.”

This national event highlights the partnership between Girl Scouts and state parks in all 50 states. Since 2019, Girl Scouts and their families from nearly every council celebrate this event in over 400 state parks, across 50 states and beyond.

Some events through GSCP2P for the 2025 Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend include Waterfall and River Hike at Mayo River State Park, State Symbol Hunt at Lake Norman State Park, Tree Promise at Grandfather Mountain State Park and more.
