Town Manager Tracey Jerome is pleased to announce the selection of Kelly Strickland as Assistant Town Manager for Community Services, following a national search and comprehensive interview process. Strickland will begin her duties for the Town of Mooresville on February 16.
“With a strong background in local government, Kelly brings a wealth of experience to the role of Assistant Town Manager, where she will oversee Parks & Recreation, Mooresville Public Library, Experience & Engagement, and The Charles Mack Citizen Center. Strickland has almost 15 years of local government experience with the City of Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she most recently served as Assistant City Manager. She began her career with the City of Fayetteville as a Financial Analyst in 2011, and in 2014 she partnered with the Budget Manager to create the City’s Office of Budget and Evaluation. Strickland assisted the City Manager with the development of the annual budget for over a decade. As Assistant City Manager since 2022, she supervised the Community Investment portfolio and was responsible for the Fayetteville Area System of Transit, Fayetteville Regional Airport, economic and community development initiatives, and all planning, zoning, building inspections, permitting, and code enforcement.
Strickland holds a Bachelor of Science in accountancy from UNC Wilmington and is a graduate of the UNC School of Government Municipal Administration course. She is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the NC City & County Management Association. She is a native of Fayetteville, NC.
