Pine Lake Prep Computer Science students earned second place in the first-ever statewide A.I. Solve-a-Thon.
The team of Prakayth Shankar, Aankan Das, Cooper Brown and Gillian Keith developed an artificial intelligence-powered app and booth focused on addressing low efficiency, incorrect paperwork and access challenges at the DMV. They presented their solution February 11 in Greensboro at the Koury Convention Center in conjunction with the NCEDConnect conference.

The NC AI Solve-a-Thon empowers North Carolina public school students in grades 6 through 12 to apply artificial intelligence in developing solutions to real problems within their communities.

The Pine Lake Prep team was one of 10 teams selected to present at the conference after advancing from a group of 25 teams that competed virtually in October. Their computer science teacher at Pine Lake Prep is Ms. Coral Riley.
