Local Girls Say “YES” To The Vest For The New Girl Scout Year

Local girls kicked off the new Girl Scout year at “Say Yes to the Vest,” a boutique-inspired event hosted by Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P) where girls in grades K-12 find their perfect fit for the upcoming membership year.

This year, the event was hosted in multiple locations across the GSCP2P footprint including Greensboro, Dallas and Asheville. Members of various ages tried on their new Girl Scout vest and sash, enjoyed fun activities and made memories with new friends.

“The Girl Scout uniform is a symbol of learning, leadership and belonging,” said Sandi Heavener, Director of Girl Scout Engagement at GSCP2P. “We were thrilled to host this event for our new and returning Girl Scout families to spread the word of the new year starting so more girls and their families can grow with Girl Scouts.”

When a girl says “yes” to the vest, she also says “yes” to fun experiences that fuel wonder, build resilience and inspire curiosity to try new things. In her Girl Scout vest, she will learn alongside others who become forever friends, gain new skills and discover who she is meant to be, all within a powerful community that sees, supports and celebrates her.

“Girl Scouts is the place where ideas, adventure and friendship grow,” said Jaclyn Johnson, Chief Mission Delivery Officer at GSCP2P. “We want all girls and their families to know that this is a safe space to be themselves and that they belong in our community.”

All girls in grades K-12 are invited to experience the growth, fun and connection of Girl Scouts. Families can go to www.BeAGirlScout.org/join to sign up, find events like Girl Scout Troop Formation Meetings in their area and learn more.
