Through January 25, the neighborhoods in 40 counties across western and central North Carolina will see local Girl Scouts participating in Walk-About Week for the 2025 Girl Scout Cookie Program as they sell the famous cookies door-to-door.
During Walk-About Week, girls are encouraged to take a parent or a
responsible adult on a walk around the neighborhood to practice their
cookie marketing skills, share quality time with their adult companion
and spread the joy of the Girl Scout Cookie season.
“Walk-About Week is a tradition that allows Girl Scouts to connect with their community while building the customer base for their girl-led business,” said Jeannie Brown, Senior Direct of Product Program of Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P). “This initiative typically lasts one week, but we’ve extended the fun this year until
January 25 due to the winter weather.”
Girl Scouts can decorate a wagon or other container for carrying
cookies and take part in Walk-About Week to reach more customers,
earn a patch and possibly win an ice cream party for their troop.
Neighbors who support a local Girl Scout entrepreneur and purchase
their favorite cookie help girls to unbox the future and follow their
dreams. Girl Scout cookies are an important building block in their
journey as they learn skills like confidence, relationship-building and
financial literacy while funding their next ambition like summer camp,
local field trips, international travel and more. All the net revenue raised through the Girl Scout Cookie Program—100 percent of it—stays
with the local council and troops. Troops may use the money earned to
fund a project that will improve their community or donate the money
to a worthy cause.

There are many ways that community members can support a local
Girl Scout troop including Walk-About Week, cookie booths or through
a local Girl Scout’s e-commerce website. Online orders can be delivered
by a local Girl Scout or shipped directly to your door. And on February
22, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont is offering a one-day
special shipping promotion where customers will receive $10 off
shipping charges on orders of 10 packages or more. Cookie hunters can
also enter their ZIP code into the Cookie Finder and discover all the
ways to feed their Girl Scout Cookie cravings at bit.ly/3RPG8AM.
