What started as a dream between two best friends is now making its way to downtown Mooresville. Sip Co. Drinks, known for its playful custom drinks and soft NC-blue sugar cookies, is opening its third location on Saturday, July 19, at 601 N Main Street. The shop will be open from 10 AM to 10 PM with giveaways, prizes, and plenty of local excitement.
Sip Co. first opened in Concord in 2020. Founders Stephen and Jon, thanks to the encouragement of their wives, moved across the country, took a chance on an old bank building, and launched their first store during the height of the pandemic.
“It didn’t look like much and we were scared out of our minds, but the drinks were poppin’ and the cookies tasted great (still do)!” Jon shared.
Since then, the brand has grown to include a second location in Charlotte—a unique setup inside a shipping container next to Concord Mills Mall. With the opening of Mooresville, Sip Co. now has three stores in North Carolina.
“We’re growing this together and want to be integrated with the community and stay a part of our neighborhood,” Jon said. “We love hosting neighborhood events and supporting local schools and teams.”
Sip Co. stands out by offering more customization options than your typical drink stop. Customers start by choosing a base—soda, energy drink, or sparkling water—then add syrups, creams, fruit, purées, candies, and more to build their perfect drink. Some customer favorites include “Strawberry Fields” with a water base, “Boom Sauce” with white Monster, “Miami Vice” with Mountain Dew, “Mama’s Stuff” with Dr. Pepper, and “Cherry Chapstick” with Sprite. For younger visitors, the root beer-based “Butterbeer” is a big hit.
Each month, Sip Co. also offers a unique “DOTM” (Drink of the Month), and fans can follow their social media at @sipcodrinks to discover creative new combinations.
In addition to drinks, customers can enjoy handmade protein bites—a favorite family recipe of the founders—and soft sugar cookies decorated in Carolina blue as a nod to the state they now call home.
Mooresville was chosen after the team asked their social media followers where they should open next. The overwhelming response pointed them to this community. When they found another old bank building that fit their style, everything clicked into place.
To celebrate the opening, Sip Co. has a full lineup of activities and giveaways planned. The first 50 people in line will receive a free Sip Co. tumbler, and 10 lucky winners will get free Sip Co. for a year (one drink per week). Guests can also spin a prize wheel to win tumblers, hats, drinks, and more. Anyone who joins their loyalty program will receive a free 16 oz drink (excluding energy drinks). Visitors who snap a photo at the store’s mural and tag @sipcodrinks will be entered for a chance to win $200 cash.
The new location is staffed entirely by high school and college students from the Mooresville area, keeping the business deeply rooted in the community it serves.
“We want people to have a delicious drink from first sip to last,” Jon said. “So we take making the best tasting drink possible and from there live a happy life.”
Sip Co.’s commitment to community is clear through their ongoing events like Halloween and Christmas markets, team sponsorships, and school spirit nights that raise money for local causes. They also welcome furry friends with free “pup cups” for dogs—or cats.
As they prepare to open the doors to their newest store, Jon shared what excites him most: “To be a part of this great community. Mooresville is special. We already feel it, and we hope to add to that magic.”
