This week through Sunday, January 18, the neighborhoods in 40 counties across western and central North Carolina will see local Girl Scouts participating in Walk-About Week for the 2026 Girl Scout Cookie Program as they sell the famous cookies door-to-door.
During Walk-About Week, girls are encouraged to take a parent or a trusted adult on a walk around the neighborhood to practice their cookie marketing skills, share quality time with their adult companion and spread the joy of the annual Girl Scout Cookie season.
Joining this year’s lineup are the Exploremores, a rocky road ice cream–inspired sandwich cookie. Filled with delicious flavors of chocolate, marshmallow and toasted almond–flavored crème, Exploremores reflect the spirit of exploration at the heart of every Girl Scout.

“Walk-About Week is a tradition that allows Girl Scouts to connect with their community while building their people skills and customer base for their girl-led business,” said Alexis Braca, Director of Product Program Operations for Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P). “Neighbors who support a local entrepreneur and purchase their favorite cookie or donate a package will help girls to unbox the future and follow their dreams.”
Girl Scouts can decorate a wagon or other container for carrying cookies and take part in Walk-About Week to reach more customers, earn a patch and possibly win an ice cream party for their troop.
Girl Scout Cookies are an important building block in their journey as they learn skills like confidence, relationship-building and financial literacy while funding their next ambition like summer camp, local field trips, international travel and more. All the net revenue raised through the Girl Scout Cookie Program stays with the local council and troops to fund their adventures throughout the year.

There are many ways that community members can support a local Girl Scout troop including Walk-About Week, cookie booths which open January 16, 2026, or digitally through a local Girl Scout’s e-commerce website. Customers can go to https://www.girlscoutsp2p.org/en/cookies.html to enter their ZIP code and find Girl Scout Cookies in their area.
Life’s more fun when you explore more! All girls in grades K-12 and adult volunteers can unbox the future with Girl Scouts by joining the world’s largest girl-led organization at www.BeAGirlScout.org/join.
