TWO new exhibits are on display now at Mooresville Arts! Beginning on Tuesday, August 18th, you can visit Mooresville Arts at the Depot and see TWO amazing new art exhibits!
Heaven on Earth, which is on display in the Depot’s Center Gallery, is a curated collection of fine art from seventeen North Carolina artists. You will see paintings, mixed media, glasswork, pottery, photography and more featured in this exhibit. This exhibit idea is a combined effort from curator Anna Rooney Thorpe and Mooresville Arts Executive Director Jessica DeHart. Ms. DeHart expressed, “Mooresville Arts is committed to showcasing local artists through its gallery exhibit space. This exhibit expands upon that mission by featuring artists from all over our beautiful state of North Carolina.”
Participating artists include: Justin Akeim Trapp (ceramics), Jonathan Brilliant (sculpture), Nicholas Burton Bragg (paintings), Frank Bragg (paintings), Darrell Coble (photography), Janet Ecklebarger (metal), Diana Greene (photography), Tony Griffin (paintings), Anne Harkness (paintings), Betty Haskin (paintings), Tama Hochbaum (photography/paintings), Chieko Murasugi (paintings and mixed media), Bill Neville (paintings), Mike Newins (wood/stone), Paul Travis Phillips (mixed media), Peter Tietbohl (glass), and Lamar Whidbee (paintings).
Join curator Anna Rooney Thorp for a private tour of the exhibition, anytime during open hours on the following dates: Friday, August 28th (2-8pm), Friday, September 4th (2 -8pm), Thursday, September 10th (12-4pm), or Thursday, September 17th (12-4pm).
Also, on Sunday, August 30th, from 2-4pm, the gallery will be open for a special artist talk, and tour of the exhibition. All are welcome to join us, and this event is free.
Face Off, which is on display in the Depot’s Skylight Gallery, is a group exhibit featuring the art of portraiture, created by over forty local and regional artists. You will see self-portraits, portraits of people and loved ones, pets and animals in this introspective collection of work. All media is included in this showcase, including painting, drawing, photography, fiber arts, pottery and more.
The opening reception for both Heaven on Earth and Face Off is Friday, August 21st, from 6-8pm. Join Mooresville Arts as we celebrate these two amazing exhibits and plethora of talented artists! Many of the participating artists from both shows will be in attendance. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome to join us for this special evening!
Both exhibits will be on display through Thursday, September 24th. Most of the artwork in these shows is for sale; artwork sales directly benefit local and North Carolina artists, and the mission of Mooresville Arts, which is a nonprofit 501c3 organization. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 12-4pm; Friday, 2-8pm; and Saturday, 10am-4pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. Mooresville Arts is located at 103 W Center Ave, Mooresville, NC.
