Town Manager Tracey Jerome Credentialed by International Local Government Management Organization

Tracey Jerome, Mooresville Town Manager, recently received the Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA, the International City/County Management Association. She is one of more than 1,300 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.

ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics, and increase the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators, and other employees who serve local governments and regional entities around the world. The organization’s 13,000 members in 27 countries also include educators and students.

To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.

Serving as the Town’s top administrative officer, Tracey Jerome is responsible for implementing the policies of the Board of Commissioners, directing business and administrative procedures, and appointing departmental officers. She is committed to exceptional customer service and continuous improvement and has a strong record of delivering results for organizations and communities.

Jerome joined the Town of Mooresville on April 29, 2024, bringing with her more than 20 years of award-winning experience in local, national, and international public and private sector business relations, in addition to almost 10 years of leadership experience in local government and community-focused programs and services. Before joining the Town of Mooresville, she was the senior deputy city manager for the City of El Paso, Texas, where she served in various leadership positions since 2015. During her tenure in El Paso, Jerome oversaw the development and implementation of a dynamic and data-driven strategic plan. Her work helped El Paso win the state-level Baldrige Award in 2019 and 2020 and positioned the city as a finalist for the National Baldrige Award for Performance Excellence in 2022.

Jerome holds master’s degrees from Sotheby’s Institute of Art and Eastern Michigan University, as well as a bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary.
