Mooresville Now is highlighting a group of individuals who quietly make a powerful impact at Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital: the volunteers.

Volunteers at the hospital are now wearing newly updated “Duke Blue” uniforms featuring the hospital’s new logo. The new look symbolizes their continued commitment to compassionate service and makes them easier to recognize by patients, visitors, team members, and the community.

While doctors and nurses lead the way in clinical care, volunteers provide the first warm smile, a calming voice in the hallway, and an extra set of hands for visitors and staff. From the gift shop to the emergency department, they support nearly every corner of the hospital with dedication and heart.

Over the past year, these volunteers raise funds to purchase a resuscitation training mannequin, new furniture for the chapel, wheelchairs, and a child-friendly activity table. Their generosity helps improve the hospital environment for patients and families alike.

Volunteer roles are flexible and tailored to individual strengths. Whether someone prefers mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends, there are opportunities available that make a real difference.

The impact of these volunteers goes far beyond daily tasks. They offer emotional comfort to families, practical support for hospital staff, and help strengthen the hospital’s connection with the Mooresville community. Many also contribute to charitable organizations and special hospital projects beyond their hours of service.

Mooresville Now encourages anyone looking to give back to consider volunteering at Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital. For more information, call (704) 660‑4112 or visit the volunteer page at dukehealth.org.
